🌤️ The Realities of the Job

Working in pet care is incredibly rewarding — but it’s not always easy. Before applying, it’s important to understand what this role truly involves.

Schedules are based on client bookings, which means hours can vary from week to week. This position is best suited for someone looking for supplemental income rather than guaranteed full-time hours. Client needs can also shift quickly, so schedules may change with little notice at times. Flexibility is important.

We work outdoors year-round, including in Texas heat, humidity, and occasional rain. Walks don’t stop just because the weather isn’t perfect.

Visits take place in clients’ homes, so you’ll need to drive between appointments throughout the day.

Punctuality matters. Clients rely on us to show up within scheduled arrival windows, especially when pets need potty breaks or medications.

This is independent work. You’ll spend much of your time on your own, responsible for managing your schedule and completing detailed visit updates.

Pet care is joyful, meaningful work — but it requires responsibility, flexibility, and professionalism.

📋 Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

  • Be a knowledgeable animal lover who is confident handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments

  • Enjoy spending time outdoors and staying active throughout the day

  • Be at least 18 years old and able to pass a federal background check

  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation

  • Own a smartphone and feel comfortable using apps, GPS tracking, and communicating with clients via text

This position is designed as supplemental income, as hours and pay are based on client bookings and are not guaranteed week to week. Applicants should have another primary source of income and flexible availability to accommodate scheduling needs.
